The Denning family from Pittsworth on Queensland’s Darling Downs have been breeding and rearing quality horses for a number of years  .......    37 in fact.

Next weekend they will present a tip top draft of 14 yearlings at APG’s first Yearling Sale  for the year at Albion Park.

Many of these yearlings have been prepared for the clients of Burwood Stud but Lots 1 and 44 are being offered on behalf of the Denning family themselves and they are both beautifully bred and outstanding types.

The very first Lot to enter the auction ring next Sunday is an attractive and athletically looking Filly by the former champion USA Two Year Old of the year in Artspeak  from a lightly raced Art Major mare in Walking On Air.

Walking On Air looked to be set for a bright future after winning at her second start as a 2 year old at Menangle , but then went amiss in a Heat of the Bathurst Gold Tiara never to race again.

She has a strong Bathurst feel about her though as she is related to a number of outstanding horses that have emerged from the Steve Turnbull stable over the past few years.  These include Runaway Red ($332,890), Atomic Red ($307,980), Power of Red ($179,200) and Missed By Red ($89,490).

At the back end of the Sale, Burwood will march a strong impressive colt as Lot 44 into the ring.  He is by the sizzling fast stallion He’s Watching from a Mach Three half sister to the millionaire mare Bettor Cover Lover.

The Burwood draft offers yearlings by the Leading Sires such as Art Major, Bettors Delight, Roll With Joe, Rock N Roll Heaven and Western Terror, as well as colts and fillies by the exciting new Stallions Artspeak , He’s Watching, Hurrikane Kingcole and Sunshine Beach.

There are two colts and a filly in the draft from mares that took sub 1.54 race records ;

#   LOT 9   -   is a Betttors Delight colt from the 2011 NSW Oaks winner Courageous Annie 1.52.6 so this colt has the genetic make up to be anything you want him to be.

#  LOT 18   -  is a grand looking Art Major colt from English Elegance 1.53.2 , a filly who won the Great Northern Oaks in New Zealand and is now the dam of 7 winners , all with 1.55 or 2.00 records.

#  LOT 24   -  is by Mr Feelgood from a Presidential Ball mare  , Goldplay 1.53.8.  Appropriately at this time of the year [ late January ] she won the Golden Guitar Final at Tamworth amongst her 14 victories.

The Queensland APG Director Trevor O’Reilly has been a big supporter of the Brisbane Sale for a number of years now and this year Burwood are preparing 4 yearling for Trevor and his wife Louise.

They can expect plenty of interest in all their horses and possibly LOT 15 might be their Sale topper.  He is an Art Major colt from the 100% producing mare Empty Promises1.58.  He has that look about him that the typically good Art Major’s possess - the bay colour, the strength and the powerful front end to him.

He is just the second colt from his dam and the only foal sired by the superstar Stallion Art Major ......   and is a half brother to the $100,000 earner Jossie James 1.54.3 ($118,304).

It is a well known fact that the record breaking stallion Bettors Delight has achieved so much of his success over Christian Cullen mares.

So Brisbane based breeder William Hill recognized this and in 2016 bred his Christian Cullen mare Save Me Christian to the full brother to Bettors in Roll With Joe.

The result of that mating is Lot 32 next Sunday and she is a flashy and strong filly that looks a ready made 2 year old type.   Now with her Mum being a half sister to two Millionaire mares  in Miss Galvinator and Fleur De Lil , it surely can’t do her any harm.

I’m really pleased with how our Burwood draft have prepped up and with all the various Bonuses and Stakes races available for the Q Bred horses I’m sure there are going to be some very happy owners in 2 or 3 years “.   Said Noel Denning last weekend.
