Jeanette Barry is in search of her fourth straight Wivenhoe Showgrounds victory today as the Burnie Harness Racing Club fires into action for its first meeting of the 2018/19 season.

The Craig Hayes trained Sportswriter - Gallavance four-year-old mare (pictured) commenced her winning run on January 14, breaking through for her first win over Miss Costalot and Berty Mack by a convincing margin of eight-metres.

Three weeks later she came out on top by a head in a keenly contested affair with Invest after a two-horse war in the final circuit followed by runaway 7.8-metre victory over Artarama.

Jeanette Barry went to the Bandbox Prelude but was off her game finishing well back behind Nostra Beach.

"I felt she was showing signs of a virus and with Nostra Beach a class above the opposition in the Series I thought the paddock was the best option," said Craig.

"I've brought her back with coastal racing in mind she goes well from behind the strands, her manners are what has served her well she steps away well and takes some running down."

Jeanette Barry is ideally drawn in two on the front line in the Burnie City Council Stakes over 2180 metres.

"She is working as well at home now as she was earlier in the year when she put three wins together here on her home track so I'm confident she can perform well first up," said Craig.

"If the opportunity arises to lead with her that's what I'll be doing, she's as game as they come and she will keep on giving right to the line."

The Pirtek North West Stakes over 2500-metres will add further interest to the seven-event twilight card with the Ben Yole trained Rocknrollhighlight coming off the back mark of 40-metres while stablemates No Apachemee, Fortino and Perfect Mach will start off the 30-metre mark.

The BHRC twilight card commences at 17.19 and may be viewed via the live stream service at tasracing.com.au.
