The HRSA Board wish to announce that Chris Hartwig has voluntarily stood down as HRSA Chairman, effective May 1, 2018. Mr Hartwig was recently appointed Managing Director of ASX listed Korvest Ltd, and the work commitments associated with this role have meant he was unable to continue as HRSA Chairman. This impending change was flagged by Chris to the Board in February, and this change was finalised at the April Board Meeting.

The HRSA Board also wish to announce that Gary Crocker has been appointed HRSA Chairman, effective May 1, 2018. Mr Crocker has extensive knowledge and experience in harness racing over many decades, as an owner, media contributor and more recently HRSA Director.

The HRSA Board would like to acknowledge the contribution made by Chris during his time as HRSA Chairman, including the commissioning an Independent Review of SA Harness Racing which resulted in the Cunningham Report. In addition Chris was the key driver of the successful return of harness racing to Wayville and a strong supporter of the Allwood Stud Yearling Sale and associated $100,000 race.

“I would like to wish Gary Crocker every success in the role as HRSA Chairman, and to that end I will remain on the HRSA Board as a Director and will do everything I can to assist Gary and the Board. I would like to thank past and current Directors, industry participants and key stakeholders for their support, and it is vital that we all continue to work together for the betterment of Harness Racing in South Australia.”

Gary Crocker went on to say “I am excited at the opportunity to be HRSA Chairman, and would like to thank my fellow directors for the faith shown in me. I can assure everyone that I will do everything I can to help grow and improve the sport of Harness Racing in South Australia.”
