Victorian-trained pacer Major Secret was too good for his Tasmanian rivals in last Sunday's City Of Launceston Cup at the Luxbet Racing Centre. Driver Chris Alford took the Emma Stewart trained entire to the lead at the 2100 metre mark and was untroubled to win by 21.5-metres.

The win of Major Secret was one of four winners on the program for Stewart and Alford.

This week the action heads to the states north-west coast with a seven-event program at Burnie on Friday evening before heading to Hobart on Sunday for a strong nine race program.

The Stars

Emma Stewart and Chris Alford - Victorian raiders dominated Sunday's program in Launceston winning four races on the program including the $20,000 City of Launceston Cup with Major Secret.

Rohan Hillier- finally broke the duck with Solid As A Rock in the $10,000 NTLHA Cup Final. When previously trained by Hillier, the Rocknroll Hanover gelding had recorded five second placings.

Olwen Jaccka- Ultra consistent mare won her third race in her past 13 starts, in that time the Deborah Williams-trained pacer has not missed a top-three placing

Izaha- promising three-year-old colt who couldn't have been more impressive winning at his first start from a spell.

The Todd Rattray trained Bettors Delight mare began safely off her 10m handicap and settled six back along the peg line. She was eased wider on the track at the 400 metre mark and she really hit the line well over the final stages of the race to run Solid As A Rock down to 1.6 metres.

Burnie on Friday
The trials session in Burnie was abandoned due to the weather and state of the track.

Hobart on Monday
The first two-year-old of the season in the south of the state, Spoilt Spot defeated his older rivals in a 2C0 to C0 trial over 1609m. The Sportswriter filly is trained by Rodney Ashwood, she won the trial by 15m in a time of 2:06.6. View the trial results of all five trials here

Devonport on Monday
Five trials were staged at the Devonport Showgrounds with the Ben Yole trained Laid Back Kenny recording the quickest mile rate of the night of 2:09.3. Laid Back Kenny has been placed once in five starts and has not raced since April. View the results of the trial session here

Week Ahead

The first meeting of the season at the Wivenhoe Showgrounds in Burnie will be staged on Friday evening. In the Gowans Motor Group Pace, Chirac will have to overcome a 50-metre handicap. The Total Truth gelding will be handled by Charlie Castles who had his first race drive in Launceston last Sunday. His main rivals include recent Devonport trial winner Chief Destroyer who has a 30-metre handicap and this year's Raider Stakes winner Timely Sovereign.

On Sunday the action heads to Hobart with all races except races one and five being heats in to $10,000 Finals on Triple M Tasmania Cup night. A number of star three-year-olds will contest the opening race. Ideal Bliss is first up from a spell, Ideal Karalta has run in the top two placings in six of her nine starts Bremusa, who won her only start, and Vouvray Beach who has won three of her six starts. The 3C0 to 3C3 event will kick off the nine race program at 17:30. Interstate this week and the $1,100,000 Inter Dominion Final takes Centre stage. Duel heat winner Soho Tribeca ($6.00 on Luxbet) is out of Tasmanian bred mare Pixel Perfect (out of Amarillen).

Tasmanian trained Devendra ($151) is the second emergency for the race, if he fails to gain a start he will contest the $35,000 Consolation at 12:05pm (AEDT). The Todd Rattray-trained star will stay in Western Australia to contest the Fremantle Cup and WA Pacing Cup in upcoming weeks.

The Inter Dominion Final will be part of a two-hour telecast on free to air tv station 7mate (Channel 63) from 22:00 Tasmanian time.
