HARNESS RACING SA COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS   

Harness Racing SA has continued to closely monitor the entry of persons into SA from Victoria arising from the latest Covid outbreak. This including the updated orders issued yesterday by the Government of South Australia relating to travel restrictions for persons entering South Australia from Victoria.

In consequence HRSA issues the following directions (effective 2 June 2021):

Persons that have attended a Victorian race meeting, or licensed training facility in that State, on or after Friday 27 May 2021 are not permitted to attend a South Australian racecourse or licensed premises for 14 days (from the date of the latest exit from Victoria) and must provide Harness Racing SA with the results of a negative COVID-19 test taken on day 13 before attending either a race meeting or licensed premises.

This direction applies regardless of whether a person is the holder of an Emergency Traveller Permit.

In issuing this direction HRSA is extremely mindful of the commitment shown by all SA harness racing participants to ensure the ongoing continuance of racing during what has been a particularly challenging past 15 months. This measure being another step to best protect all that has been achieved to date. 

All persons are advised that should they fail to comply with these requirements, significant penalties, may be imposed under AHRR 238.

AHRR 238 states: A person shall not fail to comply with any order, direction or requirement of the Controlling Body or the Stewards relating to harness racing or to the harness racing industry.

Anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend a South Australian harness racing track or licensed premises until such time as they obtain a negative COVID-19 test.
