SA CLAIMING SERIES – ADVANCE NOTICE

Following on from the outstanding success of the TAB Graduation Championship in June and July, HRSA advises that a Claiming Series is to be conducted in South Australia during October and November.

Conditions of Entry

The Claiming Series is open to horses with a minimum Claiming price of $5,000 and a maximum Claiming price of $15,000.

Horses will compete in qualifying heats commencing Saturday 5th October 2019, culminating in a final to be held at Globe Derby Park on Saturday 9th November.

All qualifying heats will be conducted for a stake of $5,000. and run over distances between 1609 metres and 2230 metres.

The barrier draw for all races in the series, including the final will be preferential draw based on Claiming Price.

There will be no claims permitted throughout the series.

The final will be conducted for a stake of $17,000 and restricted to a field limit of 11 runners plus 1 emergency.

Importantly this series is restricted to horses trained only in South Australia.

Horses which start in any of the qualifying heats will receive points on the following basis.

1st – 9 points, 2nd – 7 points, 3rd – 5 points, 4th – 3 points, 5th 2 points, every other runner 1 point.

To be eligible to compete in the series a stable return must be lodged with HRSA by 27th September 2019 and the horse must remain SA trained and domiciled for the entirety of the series.

Horses are not required to run in all of the qualifying heats. If at the time of acceptances for the Final the number of horses remaining is in excess of the starting limit, preference will be given to those horses which have accumulated the greatest number of points in the qualifying heats. There is no limit to how many heats a horse may contest.

In the event of a tie for the final position(s) in the field the total monies earned in the qualifying heats during the series will determine such position(s). Should horses remain tied after this calculation is applied then the final position(s) will be determined by ballot.

Horses which qualify for the Final will be deemed acceptors for the Final. Normal scratching penalties apply to any horse which qualifies for the final and does not accept.

The dates of the qualifying heats are:

Saturday 5th October 2019 (Globe Derby Park) -1800m

Saturday 19th October 2019 (Port Pirie)-2050m

The final will be held on:

Saturday 9th November 2019 (Globe Derby Park) - 2230m

Note:     The Claiming price of a horse cannot be increased or decreased in any subsequent qualifying heat or the Final once it has competed in a qualifying heat. A horse cannot be claimed in a qualifying heat, however can be claimed in the final. No transfer of ownership can take place from the time a horse accepts for a qualifying heat until after the Final is conducted. In addition, no horse can accept for a claiming race outside the series subsequent to it competing in a qualifying heat through to the completion of the series. Any horse which qualifies for the final and withdraws either prior to, or after acceptances, can still be claimed.
