HARNESS RACING INQUIRY-24 year old female Harness Industry Participant

On the 4th of June 2019, Stewards inquired into an incident which took place on the night of 3rd of May 2019 at the LPC’s meeting.  It was established that the participant had caused damage (by scratching) to another participants vehicle which was parked in the car park on the racecourse opposite the offices of the Tasmanian Turf Club. 

After taking into consideration evidence from Tasmania Police and her own admissions she pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of Australian Harness Racing Rule 243.This states “A person employed, engaged or participating in the Harness Racing Industry shall not behave in a way which is prejudicial or detrimental to the industry.”

After taking into account her guilty plea, record in relation to this rule and submissions in relation to penalty she was fined the sum of $1500, $750 of which is to be suspended for 12 months unless a similar breach of the rules occurs.
