The Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards remind drivers of the requirement to not allow a horse to unnecessarily make contact with the Standing Start barrier tape.
Trainers are reminded that should it be deemed that a horse contacts the Standing Start barrier tape through that horse’s intractability it may be placed outside the draw in future standing start races.
Australian Harness Racing Rule 238 states:
A person shall not fail to comply with any order, direction or requirement of the Controlling Body or the Stewards relating to harness racing or to the harness racing industry.
Should a driver be found to be in breach of the above requirement the following minimum penalty structure will apply:
1st Offence: Caution
2nd Offence: $100
3rd Offence: $200
Further offence: Stewards discretion
Reset Period: 28 Days
