A huge night of action was seen last Saturday ahead of the 2018 Albion Park Winter Carnival opening. Local star Glenferrie Hood flew to victory with Kylie Rasmussen on board in last week’s feature the 2018 Oakwood Capital Wondais Mate. This is the second year that the Wayne Graham trained pacer has picked up the feature race as he was successful in 2016.

The night also showcased the talented interstate stables and drivers. Luke McCarthy who made the trip from Sydney was successful in four races with Effronte, Hashtag, Lockton Luck and Miss Graceland. McCarthy returns to Albion tomorrow night for almost a full book of drives with many winning chances.

This week’s feature races include The Badcock Group of Companies Premier’s Cup, Egmont Park Stud Mr Feelgood Open and the Egmont Park Stud South East Oaks. Coming off his last week’s victory, Glenferrie Hood goes into the open pace against the likes of Mattgregor, Hughie Green, Frankie Rocks and Ohoka Punter. After recently joining the Grant Dixon stable, Ohoka Punter lines up for his first Queensland race since his G.1 victory in the 2016 UBET Blacks A Fake.

The Premier’s Cup, recently changed to a 2138m mobile start, has a attracted some very talented types. Nine out of the 12 horses have three or more wins in their most recent form including pacers Thatswhatisaid, Colt Thirty One, Argyle Beach and Slice of Heaven.
