WITH the breeding and looks of a star, Lot 30 is the early favourite to top Sunday’s Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold Sale in Brisbane.

From Group One winning mare English Elegance, the colt is by outstanding stallion Mach Three.

Successful in the New Zealand Great Northern Oaks, English Elegance has matched her racing feats in the breeding barn, producing seven winners from eight starters.

Her progeny include Elegant Christian and Major Moment, which have both captured Group Two events.

As for her latest offering, the colt will enter the ring with a $60,000 reserve – a price co-breeder Greg Mitchell believes will be surpassed.

“We had all our yearlings independently valued, with this bloke coming in at over $60,000,” Mitchell explained.

“Having an independent value done means the reserve is based on breeding…it takes out my opinion, any sentiment and so on.

“He is a lovely colt from a family fantastic and will no doubt draw plenty of attention.”

Mitchell’s representatives also include Lots 11, 21, 26, 32 and 41.

With a reserve of $40,000, Lot 32 is also expected to attract his share of attention.

From Find Fake Cash, the colt is a half-brother to five winners, including Golden Nursery winner, Corporal Luna.

The yearling is by premier sire, Art Major.

“He is well put together from the best sire the mare has been put to,” Mitchell said. “She has produced well with some lesser sires, with the family being good the whole time.

“On the day of the sale I look forward to sitting back, staying out of it, and seeing how they go.”
