With a substantial percentage of the yearlings listed for sale at The Allwood Stud 2018 SA Yearling Sale are progeny of five of the leading sires worldwide, no wonder the excitement is building for this event. The running of  South Australia’s first ever Group One race series for 2YO’s The Allwood

These five sires represented in this sale have combined progeny earnings well over 550 Million Dollars.

  • Art Major has progeny with earnings north of  170 Million Dollars
  • Mach Three  has progeny with earnings north of  158 Million Dollars
  • Western Terror  has progeny with earnings north of  95 Million Dollars
  • Somebeachsomewhere has progeny with earnings north of 93 Million Dollars
  • American Ideal has progeny with earnings north of  85 Million Dollars

It’s abundantly clear this is a major win for prospective buyers, owners and supporters of the sale. It also sets a very high standard for the sale going forward. Many people would remember the sires of last year’s yearlings list sold under the hammer and without any disrespect, this year’s catalogue sires are a completely different look.

That said, many good judgers will acknowledge, it’s not all about the sires, so don’t be surprised if we spend some time before the sale highlighting the amazing mare families that are listed in this year’s catalogue. Also the world class breeders and consignors that have got behind this mission of building Australia’s Greatest Value Race Series will also get a mention.

It’s important to note that the Harnessbred.com state of origin 3YO series has race stakes north of $70,000 for just the 16 fillies that walk into the ring in SA on February the 11th.  Plus the additional 18 fillies from the Shepparton Harness Racing Club.

This very prestigious event that’s jointly hosted by the SHRC and HRSA will have two $10,000 heats, one to be hosted at Shepparton and the other in South Australia.
