May has arrived and Pacing For Pink is back for 2024, with 22 WA drivers donning the pint pants for the entire month to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer and the McGrath Foundation.

Since its inception 13 years ago in Victoria, Pacing For Pink has quickly been adopted all over Australia with racetracks nationwide painted in pink with 100’s of drivers sponsored and proudly wearing pink driving pants for the month of May.

Kath Harris and Kiara Davies were influential in getting the initiative going here in WA, with it a personal mission for Davies who bravely fought her own cancer battle in 2020 when she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

“I came across the sea of pink on Sky Racing over east and I wondered why we didn’t have the same in WA,

“I contacted Kath Harris who took it upon herself to make this possible for me,

“The support and commitment from everyone in the industry is very overwhelming and it makes me proud to see the sea of pink in WA supporting those affected by this horrid illness.” Davies said.

Kiara was given the ‘all clear’ in September 2020 after undergoing a double mastectomy, but each years continues to raise awareness and support this great cause.

Pacing for Pink in WA will kick off this Friday, May 3 at Gloucester Park where we will see 13 of the 22 drivers participating adding a sea of pink to the 800m metropolitan circuit.

In 2023, Pacing For Pink raised $126,000 nationwide throughout the campaign, and this year is off to a good start, with WA already contributing $4800 just in pants sponsorship.

This year looks to be the biggest year yet, with 215 senior drivers sponsored nationwide, as well as a further 28 junior drivers and three clerks of the courses, with organiser Marg Watson confirming that the ACT have come on board this year for the first time, making the campaign truly Australia wide.
