Ross North Inter Dominion – Final Rankings Golden Nugget Final may have an
impact
Racing
and Wagering Western Australia Handicapper Warren Wishart today released the
final set of rankings for the 2004 Ross North Inter Dominion, which will get
under way with the running of four $40,000 heats at Gloucester Park on Friday
12th March.
Trainers
have until noon on Friday 20th February to declare their horses as final
acceptors. Under the provisions of Condition 5(e) of the Championship
Conditions the rankings will not be adjusted after that date, except in the
event of a horse winning a Grand Circuit or Group One event between today and
midday on Friday 27th February.
This
condition means that the Group One Golden Nugget 4yo Championship at Gloucester
Park this Friday takes on special significance for the contentions of class
four-year-olds Te Kanarama and Sandy Bay NZ which are currently ranked at 48
and 49 respectively. A win in Friday’s race will catapult them into the top 36
ranked horses.
A total of 36 Final Acceptors and Reserves
will be declared on the afternoon of Friday 27th February to enable the
connections of Eastern States and New Zealand horses time to get horses to
Perth for the opening set of heats.
The
Inter Dominion charter flight is scheduled to fly into Perth on the morning of
March 2nd with up to 23 Inter Dominion horses aboard including three West
Australians in Baltic Eagle, Flashing Red and Tricky Vic which will be
returning from the A G Hunter Cup at Moonee Valley on February 28th.
