HRSA advises that a Trotters Series is to be conducted in South Australia during the months of November and December.

Conditions of Entry

The Trotters Series is open to all 3yo and older trotters.

Horses will compete in qualifying heats commencing Monday 4th November 2019, culminating in a final to be held at Globe Derby Park on Saturday 7th December.

All qualifying heats will be conducted for a stake of $3,000 and run over distances between 2110 metres and 2230 metres.

All races throughout the series will be standing start events and run under automatic handicap conditions. Handicaps will be allocated as follows:

*Trotters rated no higher than 47 or with nil lifetime wins (excluding 2yo wins) - Front, 48 to 51 - 10 metres, 52 to 55 - 20 metres, 56 to 59 - 30 metres, *Each further 4 point bracket - additional 10 metres.

The national rating of the horse at acceptance time of each heat or the final will be used to determine the handicap allocated to each horse.

The barrier draw for all races in the series, including the final will be random barrier draw.

Mares concession claims will be permitted throughout the series.

There will be no driver concession claims permitted throughout the series.

The final will be conducted for a stake of $14,000 and restricted to a field limit of 12 runners plus 1 emergency.

Importantly this series is restricted to horses trained only in South Australia.

Horses which start in any of the qualifying heats will receive points on the following basis.

1st – 9 points, 2nd – 7 points, 3rd – 5 points, 4th – 3 points, 5th 2 points, every other runner 1 point.

To be eligible to compete in the series a stable return must be lodged with HRSA by 30th October 2019 and the horse must remain SA trained and domiciled for the entirety of the series.

Horses are not required to run in all of the qualifying heats. If at the time of acceptances for the Final the number of horses remaining is in excess of the starting limit, preference will be given to those horses which have accumulated the greatest number of points in the qualifying heats. There is no limit to how many heats a horse may contest.

In the event of a tie for the final position(s) in the field the total monies earned in the qualifying heats during the series will determine such position(s). Should horses remain tied after this calculation is applied then the final position(s) will be determined by ballot.

Horses which qualify for the Final will be deemed acceptors for the Final. Normal scratching penalties apply to any horse which qualifies for the final and does not accept.

The dates of the qualifying heats are:

Monday 4th November 2019 (Strathalbyn) -2110m

Monday 11th November 2019 (Globe Derby Park) -2230m

Monday 18th November 2019 (Globe Derby Park) -2230m

Saturday 23rd November 2019 (Globe Derby Park) -2230m

Monday 2nd December 2019 (Globe Derby Park) -2230m
