Harness Racing driver Jordan Chibnall will start her career as a trainer in Launceston on Sunday afternoon.

Chibnall, 23, has driven 207 winners throughout her career since debuting in the 2019/20 season, and has trained alongside her partner Conor Crook in recent years.

“I have waited for the right time, and Conor and I agreed that coming into the summer is the right time to get my trainers’ licence,” said Chibnall.

Sinister, in a national rating 53 to 57 event over 2200m, will be her first runner.

The Heston Blue Chip gelding has won 11 of his 77 starts, and is unbeaten in two Tasmanian runs, but you have to go back to June 2022 to find them.

“When we moved to Victoria we took him with us, and he won a couple at Wagga, including one in 1:54.6s.

“But we had to downscale out team, and we thought Mildura would suit him so we sent him to Kate Attard. Conor has always owned him (with Aaron Bain Racing and Summit Bloodstock), and when Kate was finished with him we thought we would bring him back down here.

“It’s a tricky draw (barrier six), but it’s a good starting point. He trialled okay, but whatever he does, he will improve on,” Chibnall said.

Chibnall has several drives across the program, including Sugarpova in race eight.

“She should go close if she gets a good run from a tricky draw.

In the day’s fast class race, she will drive Glenledi Elvis, who will start from a 20m handicap in the 2698m standing start event.

“It’s a tricky mark, he may have been a bit stiff to get 20m, but he has been stepping well, and in his last stand, he was able to end up behind the leader from 10m, so hopefully he does begin well again.

The first race is scheduled for 13:07.
