Well-known Brisbane identity Kevin Seymour and his wife Kay, who established Egmont Park Stud more than 55 years ago, have decided to begin reducing their broodmare numbers.

Part of the dispersal includes 14 young, superbly bred broodmares, many of whom are in foal to leading stallions such as Sweet Lou, American Ideal,  Rock N Roll Heaven, Always B Miki, Captain Crunch, Colt Thirty One and Ohoka Punter.

The listing includes daughters of champion sires Somebeachsomewhere, Bettor’s Delight, Mach Three, Art Major and Mr Feelgood.

Perhaps the best performed are the Bettor’s Delight mare Remember Ruby, a winner of 15 races and $90,708 and who is selling in foal to Always B Miki, and the Grinfromeartoear mare Talented Tess, the dam of five sub 2:00 winners and two $100,000 earners from six foals.

Two of Remember Ruby’s siblings in Rich Ruby Red (by Mach Three) and Long Legs Lou (by Bettor’s Delight), who are in foal to American Ideal and Colt Thirty One respectively, are also going up for sale. Rich Ruby Red’s first foal sold for $63,000 at the 2022 APG sale.

The dual Oaks winner and highly successful broodmare Cherry Cheer is represented by a pair of Art Major daughters in Cherished Hope and Cherished Major, the latter the last of their dam’s offspring.

The NSW Ladyship Mile and Queen of the Pacific winner Good Lookin Girl, the dam of two $100,000 earners, also has two daughters in the sale. They are Go For Gold (by Mach Three) and Good Luck Charm (by Mr Feelgood).

Another young mare certain to attract plenty of interest is Leander, a 1:54 Somebeachsomewhere mare out of a half-sister to former Australian 2YO and 3YO Colt of the Year Majestic Mach.

Misshappygolucky, a Grinfromeartoear half-sister to Majestic Mach, is represented by two of her daughters, Bettor Be Happy (by Bettor’s Delight) and Merrymach (by Mach Three).

There’s a trio of well-bred Mach Three mares in Gina Mach (1:55.6), a half-sister to 10 sub 2:00 performers, Go Be Happy, a sister to the QBRED TRIAD winner Get In The Groove, and Talent In Spades, a daughter of the Albion Park and NZ winner Tori Maguire.

The offering also includes the qualified but unraced Hurrikane Kingcole three-year-old gelding Top Up Tommy, out of Tori Maguire’s daughter Misstori.

Three-time Queensland Horse of the Year Colt Thirty One, rated one of the finest juvenile pacers in years, and others in Majestic Mach, Cherry Cheer, Good Lookin Girl, Get In The Groove and Rhapsody In Red all came out of the Egmont Park Stud.
