The annual South Australian yearling sale and race series has a new name and a new venue for the 2023 edition.

It has been styled as the Southern Stars Yearling Sale and will be held at the beautiful Gawler Barossa Jockey Club on Sunday, March 26.

As such, nominations have been extended for a short period. Non-sale entries are also invited.

“Incorporated into the day will be invited ownership opportunities, pony race exhibitions and our standardbred welfare group will also be present on the day,” SA BOTRA president Lee-Ann Pangrazio said.

“We are certain this fabulous and exciting day will bring a real community atmosphere with a flow-on effect of bringing new people into our industry.”

Yearlings will be eligible for the $50,000 Southern Stars Yearling Sale Race to be conducted at Globe Derby Park no later than June 30, 2024.

A $20,000 bonus will be paid to the owner of the first filly past the post, a $2,000 bonus to the winning breeder and a $2,000 bonus to the breeder of the first filly past the post.

Heats will be staged providing there are sufficient acceptors.
