Following significant increase in the number of trainers electing to provide their horses with a pre-race warm up and the impact this is having on the collection of pre-race blood samples it has been determined that horses selected for pre-race blood testing will no longer be permitted to have a pre-race warm up.
Trainers are reminded that only horses that have a pre-race warm up on their current gear form will be eligible to warm up. Notwithstanding this, Trainers must always seek approval of the Stewards prior to engaging in a pre-race warm up. Trainers failing to seek approval may see action taken against them in accordance with the rules.
Horses not selected for pre-race blood samples will continue to be permitted to complete a pre-race warm up provided permission of the Stewards has been granted.
The Industry is dependent on the highest levels of integrity being maintained and pre-race blood testing remains a critical tool in Harness Racing NSW’s drug testing regime.
