New South Wales pacer Expensive Ego is one of the leading hopes in Saturday night’s $300,000 Victoria Cup at Melton.

The Belinda McCarthy-trained entire has drawn barrier two for the Grand Circuit feature and subsequently opened as favourite.

Expensive Ego won his first race for the season at Menangle on September 17, his first start back since finishing seventh in the Miracle Mile in March.

Meanwhile, Bathurst pacer Ripp has drawn inside the second row for the $200,000 Victoria Derby.

The Bernie Hewitt-trained gelding was a fast-finishing second in his heat at Melton at the weekend. Hewitt has 10 starters engaged at Bathurst tonight.
