The count towards 4000 winners is still on for Bathurst trainer Steve Turnbull.

Since electronic records have been kept, the 65-year-old has trained 3997 winners.

Turnbull added to this score training a double at Cowra on Sunday with his pacers Drive To The Beach and Baxter Red successful.

Turnbull will aim to grow his record with five starters engaged at Bathurst tonight.

Turnbull is amongst the top trainers in NSW this season having trained 46 winners.

Sitting fifth amongst the tally, Turnbull is behind the likes of KerryAnn Morris, Clayton Harmey, Jack Trainor and fellow Bathurst horseman Bernie Hewitt. There are only eight winners separating first and fifth.
