Beaconsfield trainer Brett Parish ended a run of outs when Boston Busker scored in the Trainers Encouragement Pace in Launceston on Friday night.

The five-year-old gelded son of Tintin In America had been out of the winner’s list since July 2021 but returned with a dominant 14m win on a rain-affected track.

Settling one out and two back over the 1680m, reinsman Liam Older made his move three-wide at the 600m before racing away for an easy win in 1m 57.9s, a handy run given the weather and track conditions.

“He finally won. He has always been around the money, and he is an honest horse that has got to be driven the right way, and young Liam (Older) seems to have the knack with him,” said Parish.

“He is that class of horse that you need a claiming driver to get back a grade and I have known Liam for a while, and he is a good young kid, so I thought I would give him a go,” added the trainer.

Parish took over Boston Busker in January after his mate Rohan Hillier recommended that the horse would suit him.

“Rohan gave me a ring one day and said he had one for sale if I was interested, and I took the chance thinking that he could pay his way,” explained the trainer.

The win was the first for Parish since the 2017/18 season, with Parish’s involvement in the industry as a hobby participant around his full-time employment.

“I don’t have that many horses in work, I used to have two or three, but now I only have him. My brother has just moved up from Hobart and he has brought me a three-year-old from Victoria that will be going into work soon,” said Parish.

Parish could not attend the meeting and acknowledged those that helped him keep his pacer ticking over.

“Sam (Freeman) and the Spring family have been accommodating, keeping him ticking along and taking him to the races while I’m in iso,” Parish explained.

Reinswoman Jordan Chibnall drove a double on the eight-race card and recorded her 50th career driving win in the process aboard My Ultimate Romeo in race two, which was one of four training wins for Ben Yole on the program.
