Concession driver Bronte Miller had a mixed night on the track in Launceston on Sunday evening.
The teenager drove Syzate for her father Clayton to a narrow win in a three-year-old event, but she was then dislodged from the sulky of Stylish Trend in the initial score up in race nine, which resulted in Bronte being transferred to the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).
She was expecting to be discharged late on Monday morning, with severe bruising and general soreness, while fellow driver Kayleb Williams was taken to the LGH and was discharged with swelling and bruising of his ribs.
Earlier on, she scored on Syzate, who came from well back in the field to score in the Launceston Veterinary Group Pace.
Having her fourth-start since going to the Clayton Miller stable, the pacer motored home out four and five wide over the final 400m to grab Hillbilly Band right on the line.
Syzate, a three-year-old daughter of Heston Blue Chip, is raced by Benalla (Vic) trainer Robert Graham, his wife Angelique and son Matthew.
“I gave her one trial as a two-year-old, and she won it pretty easily at Shepparton, but at her first start at Kilmore we went 30m and I got tipped out when a horse galloped inside of us,” Robert said.
The Troy McDonald driven Aha Reaction continued his good form this season winning his seventh race of the term in a strong 60 to 74 event.
“He got a nice cart into the race and he put them to the sword up the straight and was too good,” said trainer Ben Yole post-race.
“He is a constant fast horse and when the races are run to suit, he is always thereabouts,” added the trainer.
The biggest winning margin of the night was a 36.1m win by Oneofthelads in the Crown Lager Pace.
From a second-row draw, Troy McDonald was able to get the Ben Yole-trained pacer around the field to the lead with relative ease in the middle stages and was untroubled late.
“He is just a bred and butter horse that was back into the right class tonight and was driven well, he went good in Hobart on Wednesday and once he got the front, he only walked around and he probably was a bit better than those horses,”said Yole.
Lip Reader made a winning return in the Elders Insurance Launceston Pace, while $22,000 Melbourne APG Yearling Sale purchase, Moneys No Issue, broke his maiden in the opening race.
The final two races of the night were abandoned due to the ambulance attending to Bronte Miller for over an hour, and with the curfew for the track lights rapidly approaching.
