RACE 1 – WAI WAI (GOLDEN WATTLE) PACE (1609 MS)

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards have completed their investigation into the presentation and training arrangements of Jay Jay Shady prior to competing in Race 1 at Charlton on 29 March 2020.

Subsequent to obtaining initial evidence from Gerard Jamieson, trainer of Jay Jay Shady immediately following Race 1 at Charlton on 29 March 2020, HRV Stewards conducted further inquiries in relation to this matter.

These subsequent inquiries included the following:

  • A further interview being conducted with Gerard Jamieson, trainer of Jay Jay Shady, whom at the time was employed by Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin, established that Mr Jamieson had accessed Harnessweb prior to this engagement for the purpose of updating his registered training establishment for Jay Jay Shady to reflect the mare being trained at Cardigan, however he had inadvertently listed the address as Delacombe;
  • A further interview being conducted with Emma Stewart whom explained that Mr Jamieson, similar to other licensed trainers employed by the stable, had been provided with the opportunity to utilise their harness and equipment and therefore the mare had also been transported to Charlton;
  • A further interview being conducted with Clayton Tonkin whom explained that Mr Jamieson, similar to other licensed trainers employed by the stable, had been provided with the opportunity to utilise their harness and equipment and therefore the mare had also been transported to Charlton;
  • Further information obtained through a subsequent Stable Inspection of the registered training establishment at Cardigan, identified no associated concerns with the preparation, recording of information or training regime of Jay Jay Shady prior to the mare competing at Charlton on 29 March 2020;
  • Forensic phone analysis being conducted on the devices of Gerard Jamieson, Emma Stewart, Clayton Tonkin, Allan McDonough and Sam Stewart which revealed no identifiable or associated concerns;
  • An analysis of the wagering data from Race 1 at Charlton on 29 March 2020 which revealed no identifiable or associated concerns.

Given the information obtained in relation to this investigation, HRV Stewards were satisfied in relation to the training bona fides of Jay Jay Shady prior to the mare competing at Charlton on 29 March 2020 and furthermore that there was no evidence that any of the relevant parties had attempted to falsify or conceal any information so as to intentionally mislead HRV Stewards or the wagering public.
