QLD - Field Size Review

Due to COVID-19 Queensland's field sizes were reduced at our three main racing venues, Albion Park, Redcliffe and Marburg.

Now that some restrictions have been eased Racing Queensland conducted a review of wagering performance comparing the lower field sizes with the field sizes pre COVID.

Following consultation with industry and Club representatives field sizes have been this week been amended as follows:

Albion Park

Mobile start

2YO races - 10 starters (all distances)

3YO & Older 1660m - 10 starters

3YO & Older 2138m or longer - 12 starters

Standing start

2YO races - 10 starters

3YO & Older - 14 starters (all distances)

Redcliffe

Mobile start

All ages & distances - 9 starters

Standing start

2YO races - 10 starters

3YO & older - 12 starters (all distances)

Marburg

Mobile start

All ages & distances - 8 starters

Standing start

All ages & distances - 10 starters

Vale Wally Marshall
Former Yarrambat born and bred horseman Wally Marshall, who was well known during the Melbourne Showgrounds era, passed on March 21 at age 94. Wally schooled at Yarrambat Primary and then Collingwood Tech before becoming a qualified electrician and poultry farmer.
