Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) conducts the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW. Operating under the Harness Racing Act 2009, HRNSW is chartered to operate autonomously of government in managing the strategic and commercial development of harness racing in NSW as a not-for-profit corporate body. 

The principal focus of the Manager, Industry Development is to develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures, standards and systems for the commercial administration of racing, breeding, clubs and owned properties and training centres. 

This position plays a vital role in the preparation of annual club race date allocations; race and club funding tables, input into handicapping, racing and breeding policy; management of NSW breeding schemes, production of analytical reports, management of club capital requests including assistance with management of new track developments, liaison with SKY Racing and contractors on race broadcast arrangements and overseeing track maintenance and assets at all tracks throughout NSW.

The above broad strategies will be achieved by:

  • Scheduling/updating of the Race Dates Calendar
  • Oversee the Administration of the NSW Breeders Challenge series including conditions
  • Plan and manage the delivery of HRNSW racing carnivals and associated initiatives such as Feature Race Meetings, the Carnival of Cups and Breeders Challenge race series
  • Statistical reporting to management and the board
  • Review, update and write Racing & Product Development Policy
  • Represent HRNSW at the industry meetings
  • Capital Projects Administration and manage Racecourse Development Fund Expenditure

 

Skills Required:

  • Broad & thorough understanding of harness racing.
  • Advanced ability to analyse data and to draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Self motivated and ability to work within tight deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.
  • Commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
  • High level of computer literacy with particular regard to MS Office (specifically Excel) and Word  (in a LAN environment)
