COMPETITORS for the upcoming Australian Drivers’ Championship have been confirmed with each state announcing their representatives.
Scheduled to be conducted at Globe Derby on November 3, the series will see two drivers from zone compete for the national title.
Winner of last season’s edition, Victorian ace Chris Alford will be back to defend his crown, with Greg Sugars also set to wear the ‘Big V’.
While Sugars is fondly remembered as former South Australian, he will be nothing less than the enemy as local contenders Dani Hill and Ryan Hryhorec seek to keep the trophy within the host state.
Successful in the inaugural Australian Reinswomens’ Championship in Tasmania last November, Hill is aiming to become the undisputed Aussie title holder.
Having also captured the 2009 Australasian Young Drivers’ Championship in Queensland, Hill is looking to be the first driver to secure the three ‘belts’.
Hryhorec hopes to go one better than his second behind Wayne Hill in 2016.
Like Hryhorec, Queensland’s Pete McMullen has plenty of experience in the series, having annexed the inaugural running at Globe Derby in 2014.
McMullen will be joined by fellow Queenslander Adam Sanderson who is poised to make his Championship debut.
Runner-up behind Alford, Western Australian star Chris Lewis will be back seeking revenge, with Shannon Suvaljko also making the trek across the Nullarbor.
Recently married Tasmanian horseman Todd Rattray will represent the Apple Isle along with Ricky Duggan, with the pair both searching for better results than their previous unplaced efforts.
New South Wales duo Todd McCarthy and Ellen Rixon round out the line-up.
