Harness Racing SA have made some significant progress in signing up a list of very strong beneficial partnerships, with key organisations over the last twelve months. These new associations are bringing substantial benefits to participants of the sport, both in SA and throughout the harness racing regions of Australia. From what I’ve seen, they should also bring benefits for the years to come.
One such substantial partnership for HRSA, has been linking up with Allwood Stud. Which is the home of:
Fly Like An Eagle was an extremely talented young star of the track, he is a four time Group One winner, and defeated the best pacers of his time including Christen Me, Smolda, Sushi Sushi, and Sir Lincoln. He still holds the New Zealand record as the fastest two year old over 1700 metres with a mile rate of 1:55.9.
And
Follow The Stars, the 2014 Australian and New Zealand 2YO of the Year and rated one of the best youngsters ever produced in this country, is lining up for his third season. He served 88 mares in his first year after a late start to the season and followed up with 144 mares in his second year, including several Group winning and Group winner-producing mares.
While the Allwood Stud 2018 Yearling Sale has had plenty on mentions in the media, what people outside SA may not realise is that long term agreement has been reach for the two mobile vehicles in SA to carry the Allwood Stud banner.
Finding outstanding sponsors to work with in the sport is becoming increasing more difficult and it’s important that the sponsors also see real value in the relationship and the agreements they enter into.
Well, HRSA, Fly Like An Eagle and the team at Allwood Stud have nailed it, with the stud confirming today that Fly Like An Eagle has already served 101 mares for the 17/18 season.
When we called the stud manager today for a comment, Mick Holtham, said, “ It would be extremely hard for anyone who has viewed this horse in the flesh not get excited about his prospects”
Mick, went on to say: “What’s really pleasing is the support the studs received from breeders outside WA. Our goal was for these two young champions from the track was to serve north of 200 mares between them for the season, we believe the industry at home (Australia) will be the big winner for this goal being achieved “. While Follow The Stars will fall short on his tally of 144 last year, the stud is again rapt with the numbers and the quality of mares he has also covered this season.
HRSA has been working extremely hard with some key partners on a way too building a much bigger, better and brighter harness racing brand in the general community, they should be congratulated for changing the direction that state was headed.
