New South Wales-trained horses earned some vital points in the first round of Inter Dominion heats at Ballarat on Saturday night.

The Belinda McCarthy-trained Expensive Ego firmed into favouritism to win the Inter Dominion Pacing Championship after his gallant second in his qualifier.

McCarthy’s pacer Spirit Of St Louis remains the second elect in the series despite not finishing amongst the placings on Saturday, however, stablemate A Gs White Socks finished third in his heat.

The Paul Fitzpatrick-trained Zeuss Bromac led in his qualifier and finished second while the Jason Grimson-conditioned Majestic Cruiser was third-placed in his heat.

The second round of Inter Dominion qualifiers take place at Shepparton on November 29.

Meanwhile, racing returns to Goulburn today with six races.

Inter Dominion-winning driver Josh Gallagher has drives in five races across the day.

The iForm best bets for Monday:

Goulburn best bet

Race 2: Rum Delight (10)

An improved Menangle performance against stronger opponents suggests he might prove too classy.

Goulburn next best

Race 6: Murphys Reward (5)

Is resuming but showed enough at Menangle trials to keep favourite followers very honest.
