Driver Greg Sugars.
HE has stepped up to the open class company Victoria and now Triple Eight will have his next interstate test.
The Jess Tubbs-trained gelding faces heat three of the Inter Dominion Pacing Championship at Menangle on Saturday night.
However, he will have to overcome the inside second row to emerge triumphant with Tubbs’ partner Greg Sugars to drive the pacer.
“It’s been a dream as a little kid to have a live chance in the Inter Dominion series and here we are,” said Sugars.
“It’s an interesting draw and will get a soft trip which is probably ideal for the first round of heats and also considering his last run didn’t go to plan.
“He was too fresh and pulled really hard in the warm up but luckily since the run he doesn’t seem to have any issues and is back to himself.”
Sugars will drive in four of the five Inter Dominion heats on Saturday night and all of these drives have drawn the second row.
The usual race configuration at Menangle has changed for these heats, seeing eight starters off the front row instead of the usual 10.
