Trots Review: Maori lays down the Law in John Slack Memorial

Maori Law has had his setbacks in recent times, but emerged as yet another worthy contender for some of the big squaregaiting features with a dashing victory at Ballarat on Friday night.

Having just his fourth run for the training team of Emmett and Richard Brosnan, the eight-year-old put together a sparkling front-running performance to thrash his rivals in the John Slack Memorial Trotters Cup.

Missing the early trouble caused by the galloping trio of Sundons Courage, Red Hot Tooth and Jackson Square, driver Chris Alford sent the horse forward from barrier three and was never headed on his way to an emphatic 8.4m triumph.
