New Inquiries
- 1 February 2021 – Mr David Reichstein - HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Sotalol and Temazepam had been detected in the post-race urine sample taken from JO JO ZIP following its win in race 5, the J O’SULLIVAN & SONS PACE (1770 metres) conducted at Canberra on Monday 9 November 2020. The investigation is continuing with further samples to be analysed.
- 26 February 2021 – Mr Peter McFarlane – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to Mr McFarlane providing a treatment (Injection) to HOLY CAMP CAPRHYSE within one clear day of race 1, the SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE (1720 metres) conducted at Young on Friday 26 February 2021. The investigation is continuing with samples to be analysed.
Inquiries Concluded
- 10 February 2021 – Mr Mathew Jackson was disqualified for a period 18 months when found guilty of a charges pursuant to AHRR 194A (A person who sells, supplies, distributes or attempts to sell, supply or distribute any substance or preparation that has not been registered, labelled, prescribed, or obtained in compliance with relevant State and Commonwealth Legislation is guilty of an offence) and AHRR 187(2) (A person shall not refuse to answer questions or to produce a horse, document, substance or piece of equipment, or give false or misleading evidence or information at an inquiry or investigation). The penalty was ordered to commence from 15 July 2019 and expired on 15 January 2021. Subsequent to the penalty Mr Jackson has issued a notice to appeal (out of time) with the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal.
Appeal Decision
- 26 February 2021– Mr Nathan Xuereb appealed the decision of Stewards to suspend his licence for a period of 21 days following a breach of AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) (causing interference) when driving BIRDY MACH in Race 4, the WOLF BLASS PACE (1609 metres) conducted at Newcastle on 8 January 2021. By decision on 26 February 2021, the appeal was dismissed by the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal. (appeal decision at www.hrnsw.com.au)
Integrity Information
- During the month of February, HRNSW Integrity department has obtained 748 Race day samples.
- During the month of February, HRNSW Integrity department has obtained 80 Out of Competition tests (OOCT) from various stables in NSW.
- During the month of February, HRNSW Integrity department conducted 36 breath test from various drivers in NSW.
- HRNSW welcomes Dr A Knox to the HRNSW Integrity Department as an Assistant Regulatory Veterinarian. Dr Knox commenced her employment in early February 2021.
- HRNSW welcomes Ms A Glide to the HRNSW Integrity Department as an Integrity Assistant / Administrative Steward. Ms Glide will commence her employment in March 2021.
