IF YOU’RE thinking of a reason to attend one of the upcoming Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold yearling sales, here are 14 for you!

That’s how many APG Sales graduates are engaged in tonight’s Victoria Derby heats at Ballarat.

The ‘Fab 14’ are looking to complete an APG hat-trick in Australia’s eldest classic following the success of Melbourne purchase Our Little General in 2017 and APG eligible pacer Colt Thirty One last season.

Unbeaten from six starts this term, Malcolms Rhythm is one of four APG stock in the opening qualifier, which includes Group One winner, Hardhitter, which is first-up from a spell.

The second heat shapes as an enticing clash as Australasian record holder Muscle Factory takes on last season’s Australian Two-Year-Old of the Year Centenario.

In his last run before making the trip south for the Derby, Muscle Factory stopped the clock in a sensational 1:49.6 at Tabcorp Park Menangle to become the first three-year-old in the southern hemisphere to break the magical 1:50 barrier.

Like his stablemate Hardhitter, Centenario is also returning from a long break.

The third heat includes last start winners Nostra Ideal, Max Delight and Soho Thunderstruck.

APG wishes connections of the ‘Fab 14’ the besy of luck tonight.

APG’s Victoria Derby contenders: Heat 1 - Our Millionaire, Hardhitter, Arggghhh, Malcolms Rhythm; Heat 2 - Uncle Jord, Muscle Factory, Watch List, Demon Delight, Centenario; Heat 3 - Nostra Ideal, Max Delight, Just Speed, Soho Thunderstruck, Fourbigmen.
