Casual Starter/Steward
Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) is the controlling body for the harness racing industry in South Australia.
Applications are invited for the casual position of Starter/Steward.
The successful applicant will be based in Adelaide, reporting to the Chairman of Stewards, and will undertake duties as required as the role of the starter and part of the Stewards panel. These duties will include:
- Attending and starting race meetings within South Australia;
- Pre race preparation and race day results and comments;
- Preparation for inquiries, if needed and stable inspections when required.
The following skills are essential:
- A thorough understanding of the Australian Harness Racing Rules;
- Ability to read a race and interpret driving and racing tactics;
- Developed judgement and decision making skills in line with legal principles;
- Ability to comprehend confidential inquiries and investigations;
- Team skills and an ability to communicate at all levels
The successful applicant should have previous experience in racing, or a similar regulatory environment.
Remuneration is based around the current agreed meeting fee for casual starters and stewards.
