About Us

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV), a statutory body, is responsible for the control, development and promotion of the Victorian harness racing industry. With strong links to rural and regional communities, we are committed to developing a vibrant and sustainable harness racing industry which promotes participation, integrity and racing excellence.  With over 400 race meetings per year at 28 tracks throughout Victoria, harness racing contributes $422m p.a. to the Victorian economy and employs approximately 4000 people.

The Opportunity

As the General Manager Racing & Wagering, you will provide innovative leadership for all product and program related racing activities for HRV.

In undertaking this responsibility, you will:

  • Set the strategic direction of HRV’s racing product and programming activities in Victoria.

  • Develop and implement initiatives to increase wagering revenue

  • Manage the development of products and programs, including race fields, racing calendar and feature races

  • Roll out national industry reforms that drive efficiencies, best practice and high professional standards in all areas of racing activities.

  • Lead, develop and motivate your diverse team while cultivating and maintaining co-operative relationships across the harness racing industry.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • A resilient and innovative senior manager who has previous experience in the racing industry (thoroughbred, harness or greyhound racing) with an understanding of the wagering landscape

  • Have the expertise to successfully implement strategic business plans

  • Have a genuine passion to lead change

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust

  • Maintain and build collaborative relationships with stakeholders

  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities

This is a full-time position based at HRV’s Flemington office although some regular travel to regional Victoria is expected.  Given the nature of the racing industry, the successful applicant may be required to work flexible hours, including weeknights and weekends.
