Punters will be putting their faith in Lead Singer to get them off to a successful start at this weekend’s Sunday afternoon harness meeting in Launceston.

Don’t get caught out thinking it’s the regular Sunday twilight time-slot, the first of nine races on the Launceston Pacing Club card commences at 13.06.

Lead Singer (pictured), the Shelley Barnes-trained Bettors Delight – Top Tempo gelding has been in the money at four of its five starts this season including two third placings in races won by Buster William and El Jays Mystery, along with a gallant second to Semowillrev and a luckless effort when runner-up to Izaha.

The four-year-old has missed a place only once in its nine-start career, its chance of adding a third win to its record is boosted by the fact it will again gain the services of Gareth Rattray and has drawn the coveted pole position over the mile trip.

The Leigh Dornauf prepared four-year-old Million Dollar Cam – Dreaming Jerry gelding, Levi Jerry, is first up since its debut run in Tasmania back in May.

Todd Rattray takes over from brother Gareth who was in the sulky when they joined forces to win by 34.5-metres over Karalta Boomer.

The form from the Northern Light Harness Association Cup will be put to the test in race seven the Longford Equine Clinic Stakes.

Solid As A Rock, trained and driven by Rohan Hillier, was victorious in the Cup over Kvitova Leis and the pair will again go head to head over 2200-metres.

Both pacers came off the 10-metre handicap in the 2698-metre feature, but this time Kvitova Leis has drawn two on the front line while Solid As A Rock will start from the centre of the second line.

The Todd Rattray trained Kvitova Leis stormed home from six back on the pegs at the bell to run Solid As A Rock to 1.6-metres and will be well fancied to turn the tables this time around.

Pockets Of Courage trained by Steve Lukac is also in the mix on its first up second behind Olwen Jaccka on December 3 when beaten a neck.

The five-year-old gelding won three races on the trot in May and June prior to a spell and has come up with the pole position for the tough assignment.
