The Victorian,
Tasmanian & South Australian Harness Racer is Australasia's most
widely read industry-focussed monthly magazine.
Published monthly by Harness Racing Victoria, the Harness Racer has
diligently served local industry participants and enthusiasts, and
those around the globe, since August 1985.
The forerunner of the Harness Racer was the Harness Racing Board Gazette,
which was first published in August 1951.
Originally mainly a program and statistical guide for Victorian licence-holders,
the publication's centre of attention and appeal broadened greatly
with the metamorphosis from Gazette to Harness Racer.
Interesting and colourful feature/ news stories backgrounding the
equine and human heroes and heroines of Harness Racing, along with
regular industry focused columns, began to keep those most closely
involved in the industry more informed about issues which affected
them.

These days the tradition
has been maintained, but, as its name suggests, the Harness Racer
is also the official periodical for Harness Racing South Astralia
and Harness Racing Tasmania.
South Australian
harness racing has been a feature of The Harness Racer since September
1999, while Tasmania is the 'new kid on the block' having joined
in September 2004.
