The Driver - Harness racing's equivalent of a jockey. Unlike the gallops, the weight and age of a driver is unrestricted. Junior drivers can be licensed from 16 years of age, while Victoria's oldest driver is 78 years of age. Along with Alford and Caldow harness racing's best drivers are Kerryn Gath, Daryl Douglas, Gavin Lang, Jodi Quinlan and Brian Gath

The Inter - The Inter Dominion is Australia and New Zealand's most prestigious Harness Race. The equivalent of the AFL Gand Final, it is every trainer, owner and drivers' dream of winning the Inter.

The Grand Circuit - The major races in Australia and New Zealand are part of the Australasian Grand Circuit. Points are awarded for each of these races and the horse with the most points at the end of the season is the Grand Circuit Champion. Example of Grand Circiut races include Victoria Cup, AG Hunter Cup, Miracle Mile and Inter Dominion. This season's Grand Circiut Champion was Smooth Satin. A driver best remembered for his/her Grand Circuit successes.
