What is the trading ring?
The www.harness.org.au Trading Ring is an area where
you can let others know that you wish to buy or sell a horse, equipment or other items.


How do I gain access to the trading ring?
In order to use the trading ring you need to register for an account.

If you are registered for the Blackbook you can use the same username and password to access the Trading Ring.

If you do not have an account for either the Trading Ring or the Blackbook you will need to register for a new account.

IMPORTANT:

After you have submitted the form, you should recieve an email from us confirming that your email address is correct.  This email will contain a link in it which you must click on in order to activate you account. 

If you do not receive this email within 24 hours (although usually you will receive this within a few minutes) it may be because you have supplied an incorrect email address. 

If you continue to have difficulites, email the trading ring administrator and provide the following information:

1. Your full name
2. Your username
3. Your email address

I have forgotten my username or password, what do I do?
If you have previously registered for either the Blackbook or Trading Ring and have forgotten your username or password, please follow this link to have your account details emailed to you.

If your email address has changed and you havae forgotten your details please email the trading ring administator and include your full name and other details by which you can be identified (for example your old email address, postal address or phone number).


How do I advertise on the Trading Ring?
To advertise on the trading ring you must follow the steps outlined below:

1. Log on to the trading ring - if you do not have an account refer to the question "How do I gain access to the trading ring?"
2. Once you have logged on, select "Create New Advertisement" from the menu at the left.  If at this point you see a message saying "To create an advertisement, you need to apply for contributor privileges", refer to these instructions.
   
3. Choose a category for your advertisement - for further details on how to choose the best category refer to the question "Which category should I place my ad in?"
4. Enter a subject for your advertisement. This is the "headline" for your advertisement and should provide readers with enough information for them to decide if your ad is interesting to them. An example of a good subject would be "3yo C0 Gelding for Sale - Tamworth Area". An example of a bad subject would be "Horse For Sale" as this is not helpful to the reader.
5. Enter a description for your advertisement. Here you can provide more details about what you wish to buy or sell. For example if you are selling a horse you can provide information about it's breeding, racing performance, etc. You should also include details of where the item is located and how you can be contacted for further enquires.
6. You will see a box labelled "Display Email in Ad?" If you tick this box you email will be displayed automatically with your ad. If left blank your email will not be displayed.
   
7. Press the submit button to complete the process.

What happens now?

Once you have submitted an ad to the trading ring it will be placed in a queue to be reviewed by the trading ring moderators. The moderators will review the content of your ad to determine if it is suitable for posting. Allthough we endeavour to post ads regularly please be patient - it may take up to 1 business day for your ad to appear on the site.




I receive a message asking me to "Apply for Contributor Privileges". What does this mean?
There are two levels of accounts for the trading ring.  When you first register, you receive a basic account which allows you to view messages on the trading ring only.

If you also wish to post messages to the trading ring you must have your account upgraded. 

When you apply to have your account upgraded you will be asked a number of additional questions.  Your application will be reviewed by the moderators and providing they determine that you have provided correct credentials you account should be approved by the next business day.


How do I change my password?
First you must log into your account at the trading ring.

Once you have logged in, select the left from the menu at the left entitled "My Account".


How do I change my email address?
First you must log into your account at the trading ring.

Once you have logged in, select the left from the menu at the left entitled "My Account" and enter your new email address in the space provided, and press the submit button.


IMPORTANT:

After you have submitted the form, you should recieve an email from us confirming that your address is correct.  This email will contain a link in it which you must click on in order to activate the changes. 

If you do not receive this email within 24 hours (although usually you will receive this within a few minutes) is it likely that you have provided an invalid email address.  You should visit the "My Account" section and try again.

How do I reply to an ad?
If you do not have contirbutor privileges, please see the section entitled "I receive a message asking me to "Apply for Contributor Privileges". What does this mean?"

If you have contributor privileges you will see a button entitled "Reply".  When you click this you are able to post a reply.  A form will be provided where you can post a reply to the ad.  Please note that these replies will be visible to all forum users.  If you wish to contact the advertiser privately you must do so by using their email address or phone number (if provided).

Once you have submitted a reply to the trading ring it will be placed in a queue to be reviewed by the trading ring moderators. The moderators will review the content of your ad to determine if it is suitable for posting.
