RACE 2:                    GWN 7 MS PACE (2100M)

DALLAS JACK (Jack Justins) – Stewards questioned driver in regards to his driving tactics he adopted in tonight’s event, in particular racing in the back straight on the final occasion when following the short priced favourite SMOKEY THE BANDIT (Ashleigh Markham) he elected to shift from that position to a one wide position.  Mr Justins explained that he shifted from the marker post line to the one out line seeking to find clear running over the concluding stages.  Mr Justins further explained after shifting from the position that he had erred in his judgement and realised that he probably should have stayed behind the leader SMOKEY THE BANDIT.  Stewards agreed Mr Justins had erred in his driving tactics in tonight’s event as he is a junior driver.  He has been referred back to the Driving Master Mr Trevor Warrick in regards to this matter.

COUNTRY JASPER (Trent Wheeler) – Pre race samples were taken. Had a tendency to over-race in the middle stages.

HIGH AND RIGHTEOUS (Matthew White) – Driver reprimanded under provisions of Rule 161(h) for failing to come into position at the start.

RACE 5:                    LESCHENAULT LEISURE CENTRE CONDITIONED HANDICAP SS PACE (2500M)

ARDEN TORRES NZ (Reon Tither) – Had a tendency to over-race in the middle stages.

GALLILEO NZ (Gary Hall Jnr) – Galloped away from the Standing Start. Stewards questioned Mr Hall in regards to why on two occasions he shifted backwards with his head. Mr Hall explained that during the running of this race, whilst leading in the one wide line, the runner on his back ARDEN TORRES NZ (Reon Tither) had a tendency to want to over-race.  Mr Hall further explained that he had fended ARDEN TORRES NZ off on two occasions with his head as he thought it was a safety issue as ARDEN TORRES was wanting to get into the back of Mr Hall and his racing cart.  No further action was taken.

ROYAL OPERA (Chris Lewis) – Began badly.  Placed outside the draw in future Standing Start events.

WILD BUD NZ (Stephen Reed) – Began badly.  Placed on its last chance in the Standing Start barrier draw.
