RACE 1:                    SCHWEPPES 3YO MS PACE (2100M)

SPOILT COCO (Steven Jelf) – Pulled hard during the running of the event.  At approximately 400m contacted a sulky of another runner.  Broke gait as a result and was subsequently stood down from racing and until such time as it completes a satisfactory trial.

An inquiry was opened into the reasons for CAPTAIN PROUD (Aiden De Campo) being forced into a four wide position prior to the ease out pole.  A subsequent inquiry was found that Mr Atkins on EMPIRES EXPRESS racing in a one wide position eased Mr De Campo (CAPTAIN PROUD) into a four wide position prior to the designated ease out pole in the back straight.  At a  subsequent inquiry Mr Atkins pleaded guilty to a charge forcing another runner to cover more ground than necessary and under the provisions of Rule 163(1)(b) will serve a 15 day suspension.

SWIFT MACH (Kade Howson) – Held up for clear running.

MAGICAL CROWN – Pre race swabs were taken.

RACE 2:                    SKY CHANNEL MS PACE (2100M)

PADDYRAMA (Dylan Egerton-Green) – Pre race swabs were taken.

HEEZA TOP DOG NZ (Michael Young) – Gave ground over the concluding stages.  Placed on its last chance to race competitively.

BATAVIA FRIENDSHIP (Troy Lewis) – Gave ground over the concluding stages.  Placed on its last chance to race competitively.

HEEZA TOP DOG (Michael Young) – Stewards queried the driving tactics employed by Mr Young, particularly his reasons for leaving a favourable trailing position with approximately 1400m left to run to move to the lead of the one wide line.  Mr Young put forward that he thought it was a weaker than average race and the horse would be best served racing in a forward position.  Mr Young also put forward that the tactics he was issued by the Trainer Shane Loone were similar and Stewards noted Mr Youngs comments.  No further action was taken.

RACE 3:                    GWN7 SS PACE (2500M)

PACIFIC PLAYBOY (Kaiden Hayter) – Bad out.  Last chance to race in the draw.  Post race swab samples were taken.

BLACK AQUILA (Michael Young) – Shifted out under pressure.

AZZURUM (Troy Lewis) – Checked after the start.

SIR ESCAPEALOT (Kyle Harper) – Galloped out.

DONOVAN BROMAC NZ (Justin Prentice) – Pre race swabs were taken.  Broke after the start.  Last chance to race in the draw and was inconvenienced shorly after the start.

General

Stewards spoke with Junior Driver Michael Granthan (JAMBO EMALI NZ) in the company of Driving Master Trevor Warwick that Stewards were concerned with Mr Grantham’s whip action over the concluding stages.  Stewards’s were mindful that Mr Granthan was only having his 2nd drive and that Mr Grantham had been cautioned on Monday with regard to his whip action.  Under the circumstances, Stewards took no action, but in consultation with Mr Warwick asked Mr Granthan to work on his action as soon as possible as theses concessions will not be available to him as he gains more experience.

RACE 4:                    HAPPY 50TH JOHNNY RYAN MS PACE (2100M)

HOLD ALL TICKETS NZ (Chris Voak) – Gave ground over the concluding stages.  Placed on its last chance to race competitively.
