General

Drivers David Jackson (MICRO MITCH) and Bruce Stanley (SANDAKAN LOMBO) were questioned in regard to an incident that occuried shortly after the start of this event.  After taking evidence from both drivers, acting under their own observations and viewing the official patrol film, it was established that Mr Jackson (MICRO MITCH) who was in the one wide line was restraining MICRO MITCH back at the start and was about to start to shift from the one wide line to marker peg line at the same stage as Mr Stanley (SANDAKAN LOMBO) who was drawn on the  peg line on the second row and started to shift from that position to a one wide position.  Mr Stanley had to check his horse at that stage and it broke gait.  Under the circumstances, Stewards could attribute the blame to one horse or driver.  No action was taken, other than to remind both drivers of their obligations whilst shifting ground.

RACE 2:                    NEAT NEDDYS FILLIES AND MARES PACE (1609M)

General

The all clear was delayed as the  4th placed runner MILLIES GIRL (Shane Young) wished to view the official  photo finish as he was of the opinion that he may have ran 3rd.  After viewing the photo finish the All Clear was given on the Judges’s numbers.

General

Drivers Lana Brandli (LUCKY DREW) and Letitia Barron RIVERBOAT NING NZ were questioned regarding an incident racing towards the front straight on the first occasion.  After taking evidence from both drivers and acting on their own observations and viewing the official patrol film, it was established that Ms Brandli was racing three wide at that stage and shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of Ms Barron and had to check her horse at that stage. Ms Brandli pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of Rule 163(1)(a) for causing crossing and had her reinsperson’s licence suspended for a period of 25 days.  As Ms Brandli had no up coming driving engagements the penalty was deemed to commence at midnight Saturday 10 August 2013.

No action was taken under the circumstances.

Passed fit to start.  Out of position as the start was effected.  Driver Chris Sheehy was reprimanded under the provisions of Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position.

General

Driver Trent Wheeler (DISCO GEMINI) was questioned in regard to an incident racing in the back straight on the first occasion when he was leading the one wide line and the  pace was reduced in that line.  After taking evidence from Mr Wheeler, acting on their own observations and viewing the official patrol film, Mr Wheeler was charged under the provisions of Rule 162(1)(u) for abruptly reducing the pace in the one wide line at that stage of the event.  Mr Wheeler then called Drivers Callan Suvaljko (FLIRTALICIOUS) who was racing on his back in the one wide line and Ryan Bell (IMINCHARGE) who was racing in the one wide line on the back of FLIRTALICIOUS as witnesses.  After taking evidence from both those drivers it was established that Mr Bell had attempted to pull his hopple shortening pins racing into the back straight on the first occasion and when doing so the nearside hopple shortening pin had failed to release.  Mr Bell’s horse shifted up the track at that stage, placing him at some disadvantage and as he tried to gain his position back in the one wide line contacted the sulky of Mr Suvaljko at that stage.  Under the circumstances Stewards withdrew the charge against Mr Wheeler and no action was taken other than to remind Mr Wheeler of his obligations whilst leading the one wide line.

After taking evidence from both drivers, acting on the own observations and viewing the official Stewards patrol film it was established that Mr Tither (DARDY DELIGHT) who was racing to the inside of IMA RIPPER has commenced to shift outwards as Mr Suvaljko has attempted to shift his drive outwards with the shift the colt has  failed to respond. As Mr Tither then became clear of IMA RIPPER the colt has then shifted outwards more then Mr Suvaljko wanted to and made contact to the near side wheel of ANOTHER VINNIE (Aaron Beckett) who was shifting back from a four wide position  to the three wide line. Under the circumstances no action was taken other then to remind all drives of there obligations when shifting ground.
