Carlton Draught Hunter Cup champion Mont Denver Gold (pictured)
is back in work.
?
The last start Inter Dominion runner-up returned to
the Bolinda stables of Barry & Chris Alford on Monday.
?
"He'd been spelling at my place since coming back
from New Zealand", explained owner Jason Kennedy.
?
"I went to clear his paddock the other day and he
was up on two legs screaming like a bull so I thought it was about time we
got him back in work.
?
Kennedy has three principal targets earmarked next
season for the rising six-year-old and they don't include the 2004 Perth Inter
Dominion.
?
"His three major targets will be the Miracle
Mile, Victoria Cup and Hunter Cup.
?
"Chris and I spoke at length and we've agreed
there's too many risks involved with taking him to Perth.
?
"The Miracle Mile is a race I've always wanted to
win and I think he'll be really suited by the fast pace.
?
Since transferring to the Alford stables last July,
Mont Denver Gold has developed from a C3 country pacer into Victoria's most
potent weapon.
?
Last season he amassed $463,495 in stake earnings,
taking his career record to 51 starts for 15 wins and 20 placings.
?
Remarkably he is still one win short of becoming a
metropolitan free-for-aller having only achieved an M3 C9 assessment to date.
