Whilst the end results are already locked in concrete, the 2005-06 Victorian trainers and drivers premierships will be officially completed today.

It's the final meetings of the harness racing season at Shepparton and Ballarat and the three premiership pacesetters have unassailable leads.

Daryl Douglas (pictured), 33, will claim his much deserved maiden drivers title after finishing runner-up to Kerryn Manning in each of the past five seasons.

The Bendigo-based reinsman heads into today's meetings on 261 Victorian wins, 59 clear of Manning, with seven-time winner Chris Alford in third on 193.

With a further five interstate wins on his tally, Douglas will also claim his first Australian drivers premiership with a 36 win lead over New South Welshman Greg Bennett.

In the concession (junior) ranks, former South Australian youngster Greg Sugars, 21, will cap a memorable season with his first Victorian drivers premiership.

The exciting Melton-based reinsman added the Geelong and Bendigo Cups to his CV this year, along with his maiden Group 1 title which came via this month's V75 Australasian Breeders Crown 2YO Trotters Final.

Sugars, who heads to Ballarat tonight on 89 wins, withstood a late challenge from dual premeirship winner Amy Tubbs who has 81 wins to her credit.

On the training front, Peter Manning will officially claim his third Victorian trainers premiership when the curtain is drawn on the season tonight.

The only Victorian trainer to reach triple figures this season, Manning heads into the final day on 142 wins, with Jayne Davies second on 94 and Lance Justice third on 82.

The Victorian metropolitan premierships were finalised last Friday night with Lance Justice winning his first trainers title and Chris Alford his seventh drivers title.
