Race 8 – Image Of Starzzz

Kate Gath, driver of Image Of Starzzz was queried in regards to the driving tactics adopted on the entire beaten 20.8 metres ($9.90), in particular the reasons for restraining to the rear of the field after the start and subsequently being unable to find clear running until the final 200 metres of the event. Ms Gath stated she was instructed by the trainer’s A J and B J Tindale to drive forward at the start from gate 3, though when unable to cross Auckland Red to her inside, had to restrain from three-wide to the rear of the field. Ms Gath also explained from the 800 metres The Hervey Bay driven by Greg Sugars was to her outside and despite the horse traveling well at the time felt unable to shift that runner wider on the track, and did not believe it would have benefited her runner to come wider on the track at that stage of the event given the horse’s previous form. Having reviewed the patrol films and collected evidence from trainer Beau Tindale, stewards noted Ms Gath’s explanation.
