Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) advises that starting with meetings where acceptances are taken from Monday (6 April) preference will be given to horses that have had the fewest starts since the commencement of region-based racing (2 April).

Where horses are equal on amount of starts, the automatic field selection system will apply to differentiate.

Standard unfulfilled engagement/late nomination principles apply.

“This change in the balloting procedure is to give opportunities to horses struggling to gain a start due to the current field limit restrictions,” HRV General Manager of Racing Stephen Bell said.

“The racing office is endeavouring to provide as many opportunities as possible for horses to get to the races across all regions. We believe this change is necessary to spread those opportunities fairly in the current climate.”
