Trots owners will be given the red carpet treatment across Victorian trots racetracks following a renewed push by the State Government and the VHRSC.

Facilities will be upgraded to enhance the race day experience for owners, with the State Government’s Victorian Racing Industry Fund investing $35,207 in funding to upgrade owners’ areas at Ballarat, Cobram, Geelong, Gunbower, St Arnaud and Yarra Valley tracks.

The Victorian Harness Racing Sports Club has tipped in a further $25,182 and the clubs will also invest to facilitate $70,414 worth of upgrades.

Club president Emmy Mazzetti said the funding would ensure owners had better experiences on track.

“Every track will have a designated facility where the owners can go,” Mr Mazzetti said. “It makes a huge difference and clubs appreciate the funding.”

Improvements include new carpet at Cobram, new bar stools and tables at St Arnaud, white plastic fencing to create an outdoor owners’ enclosure at Gunbower, new carpet, blinds and renovation of the ceiling at Geelong, the introduction of a bar and air conditioning at Yarra Valley and the Ballarat Draught room will be redeveloped with new carpet, televisions dedicated to race replays and a pizza oven.

“Owners are the lifeblood of the sport and have to be looked after,” Mr Mazzetti said. “We want to get more owners involved and we want more owners to join the VHRSC and enjoy the benefits we offer.”

HRV ownership manager Tori Glenister congratulated the State Government, VHRSC and country clubs for their continued support of key stakeholders.

“The industry is pulling as one to ensure owners get the best race day experience and with the support of these key partners we can make sure participants can own the moment wherever their horse runs,” Ms Glenister said.
