Hannelore Hanover in action

Night one of the Breeders Crown it was all about the fillies and mares at Hoosier Park, with the six finals run for the fairer sex.  Tonight is meant to be about the boys but one loan female competitor is arguably the biggest drawcard.  Outstanding mare Hannelore Hanover would have been the shortest of favourite against her own sex but after winning an elimination against the boys, she is set to be the first mare to win the open trot since Cr K Suzie in 1996.

RACE 7 - OPEN TROT $526,250

Selections

4 Hannerlore Hanover

2 Crazy Wow

5 Marion Marauder

3 Homicide Hunter

Well if she is beaten she is going to take a lot of the energy out of Hoosier Park but trainer Ron Burke is extremely happy with her and it is hard to see her being beaten.  She towelled up the boys a week ago and should win.

Crazy Wow trotted straight to the front in his elimination and the backed it off in the middle stages.  He is a stablemate of Hannelore Hanover and hard to see him getting into a speed battle with her.

Marion Marauder made up a lot of ground behind Crazy Wow last week but did have the perfect tow into the race.

Homicide Hunter got a long way back and steamed home to just miss the placings and might be one to include from the draw.

RACE 8 2YO TROTTERS $600,000

Selections

4 Fourth Dimension

1 Crystal Fashion

5 Mets Hall

3 Fiftydallarbill

Fourth Dimension wasnt asked to do a lot in his elimination in the early stages.  Allowed to balance up before being aggressively driven to the front.  From there he never looked in any danger of defeat.  Will be more tempo tonight.

Crystal Fashion also was given a while to find its feet in the elimination before making its move into the race but trotted strongly to the finish.  The other place chances in the race are Mets Hall and Fiftydallarbill after he made a lot of ground late last week.

 RACE 9 2YO PACE $600,000

Selections

1 Karpathian Kid

3 Lost In TIme

5 Stay Hungry

10 This Is The Plan

Trainer Erv Miller has had some very smart horses in his stable and he rates this one the best of his Breeders Crown runners.  He looks a real all-rounder he is a great mover, great speed and a great attiude according ot Miller.  He should be hard to beat.

Lost In Time did a stack of work in his elimination early before backing off the speed and getting a comfortable middle half.  Hard to see him getting a soft run tonight.

Stay Hungry was the fastest of the elimination winners and he flashed home after they went very fast up front.  He might get a fast tempo again tonight to help him swoop home.

This Is The Plan is the best of the rest and should be included in your multiples.

RACE 10 3YO TROT $527,500

Selections

4 International Moni

3 What The Hill

5  Lindy The Great

10 Dover Don

One of the most open finals of the night with the three elimination winners drawing alongside one another.  International Moni sat back and watched all the action unfold and was brought with a late charge from the turn.  Driven off the speed he might have too much speed again.

What The Hill dominated from the front when it qualified for the final.  Never looked in any real danger but might have to withstand a bit more pressure in the race tonight.

Lindy The Great also led when winning and was dominant.  So the question is can he find the front again with What The Hill drawn underneath him?

Dover Don is the best of the rest and can be included in trifectas and first fours.

RACE 11 3YO PACE $527,500

Selections

4 Downbytheseaside

2 Boogie Shuffle

9 Miso Fast

1 Rock N Tony

Downbytheseaside has had already won $1.6 million in his career and he should be adding another healthy amount to that tonight.  He couldn't have been more impressive when winning last time out and looked very comfortable in the run home.

Boogie Shuffle sat on the back of Downbytheseaside in the elimination and was very good closing the margin to a length at the finish.  He should be just off the speed and I can see him being in the finish.

Miso Fast made up good ground in its elimination and Rock N Tony has had a good week in preparation for this according to trainer Erv Miller.

 RACE 12 OPEN PACE $421,000

Selections

3 Dealt A Winner

1 Sintra

2 McWicked

5 Mach It So

Dealt A Winner let the speed burn out of the race before making his move and got to the front.  Looked to be travelling well but was forced to hold off a late close from Keystone Velocity.

Sintra has had along season and did drop out quickly last time out but did win the Canadian Derby earlier in the year off a soft draw can look for the same run again.

McWicked is trying to turn back the clock but has looked better this season after struggling for the past two years and Mach It So was very good after working hard at both ends of the elimination.

Dont forget to tune into Sky Racing on Sunday morning to catch all of the action and I'm looking forward to being a part of the broadcast team again for the second night of the Breeders Crown.
