The Association of Victorian Country Clubs has hailed this year's TAB Redwood Rattler "a huge success".

The Rattler carried 220 guests from Melbourne to Maryborough for the iconic Redwood experience, Australia's premier country all-trotting race day.

"With racecourse entry, entry to the punters club, a $20 betting voucher, a beautiful country style roast lunch and beverage a great day was had by all," AVCHRC CEO Toby McKinnon said.

"With everyone on the train raving about the experience and always room for more patrons and more carriages I'd encourage everyone to get on board early with their bookings for 2018."

In a tremendous show of support the Rattler riders also donated $499.70 for Connor Clarke. Connor is from Ballarat but after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma (DLBCL), a condition rare in children, he was admitted to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne to undergo chemotherapy treatment under close observation.

Connor is a very active lad, playing football, swimming, and racing his pony both under saddle and in the cart. Being bed-bound for this extended stay will be extra challenging for Connor while he is such a long distance away from all his friends, pony and extended family.

You can make a big difference to this little boy with your donation – all funds collected will go toward Connor’s initial treatment over the next five months. The less the family need to find for this fundamental part of his journey, the more often they can afford to make the three-hour round trip, making sure Connor has his mum, dad and brothers and sister by his side to keep his spirits up to face this challenge the best he can.
