Harness Racing buzzing over Allwood Yearling Sale

05 July 2017 | Dean Baring, Harnessbred.com

The Harness Racing community is buzzing with reports that HRSA are working with an outside partner to create an additional Group Race for 3YO’s that are sold at the Allwood Stud 2018 Yearling Sale.

This is on top of the $100,000 Group 1 for 2YO’s announced a little over a month ago. Harness Racing in South Australia is now on an upswing and I know the HRSA Board are very keen to rejuvenate juvenile racing in the state.

We contacted a HRSA Board member today in regards to these positive stories coming out of SA, who went on to say:

Our Board would love to be in position today to confirm we have secured all the funding to announce something very special for these yearlings that are going through our sale once they turn three. However, until the sale is concluded and the sale proceeds are known, we can’t say how big this race will be. I expect it will be something that all of our breeders, owners and consignors can be very proud of. They are the backbone of our sport, they are our key partners and without them this would not be possible.”

The recent SA Sales Graduates raced for $10,000, made possible by BOTRA reviving the SA Yearling Sale a few years ago. Graduates of the Allwood Stud 2018 Yearling Sale will race for 10 times that amount.

From the calls I’ve received its clear that the Allwood Stud Yearling Sale & Race has captivated the Harness Racing community. While at this stage I cannot disclose the list of breeders and consignors who have come forward with entries to help build this event, the names on the list are “world’s best” at their trade and it’s truly exciting to be a part of something so significant.

For those breeders still wanting to join “something very special” please see the forms attached.
