It was a case of first out and first home for the Bernie Hewitt trained and driven Plain Georgie in the NSW Sires Stakes for the three year old fillies at Bathurst last Wednesday night.

?

The daughter of Canowindra based sire Trump Casino (pictured) appreciated the drop in class from her recent Harold Park runs to score an easy win in the $10000 event.

?

Plain Georgie scored by almost ten metres over Amerigo Robyn (Jason Turnbull) with Wagga Wagga filly Creating (Bruce Harpley) 2 ? metres off in third place.

?

The win by Plain Georgie took her race record to an impressive six wins from just twelve starts.

?

Plain Georgie is likely to be aimed at the Bathurst Gold Bracelet heats later this month.

?

The filly is owned by Kathy Hewitts father Peter Wood, who resides at Weethalle in the Riverina and was purchased by Peter at the 2003 Gold Crown yearling sales at Bathurst.

?

No doubt Peter will be busy studying the catalogue between now and the 2005 sale on Sunday March 20.

Another three year old filly which appreciated the return from Harold Park class to racing at her home track was the Steve Turnbull trained Zaywattonar.

?

The daughter of top New Zealand sire Sokys Atom scored a sound victory in the Killarney Stud Pace and is also a likely candidate for the Gold Bracelet in a couple of weeks.

?

Zaywattonar is now running third in the Clubs juvenile pacer of the year award, behind Plain Georgie and another filly Belle Of Freedom.

In conjunction with leading Riverina owner trainer Bernie Kelly, Junee based Bruce Harpley has been a regular visitor to Bathurst, in particular for the Gold Crown Carnival, over recent years.

?

But last Wednesday Harpley scored on a two year old which he also trains and Kelly was relegated to the role of strapper!

?

Musical Fantasy is a daughter of new sire Barnett Hanover, which stands at the famous Alabar Stud at Echuca in northern Victoria.

?

She is owned by Mark Hagar from Old Junee.

?

Harpley indicated that the filly was also being aimed at Bathurst for the Gold Tiara and that his plans were to bring a number of pacers with him for various support races during the Carnival, which he regards as the opportunity for a working holiday in Bathurst in March each year.

?

Incidentally, Harpley was judged as drive of the night for his win on Musical Fantasy so Bruce and family will be enjoying dinner at Scott Maguires Railway Hotel during the Carnival.

Bathurst harness racing enthusiasts are used to seeing many of Australasias leading drivers in action at Bathurst during the Gold Crown Carnival each year and 2005 will be no exception.

?

Among the advised drivers due to make the trip to Bathurst from interstate this year are John Caldow, Kerryn Gath and Chris Alford from Victoria, Geoff Webster from South Australia and Luke McCarthy from Queensland.

?

Likely visitors to Bathurst also include Miracle Mile winning driver Jodi Quinlan form Victoria and leading New Zealand reinsman Anthony Butt.

Owners and trainers are reminded that Bathurst Club will be conducting a number of attractive races with heats and finals for various classes from C0 to C7 pacers during the forthcoming Gold Crown Carnival.

?

All finals for these races will have prize money of $7000.

?

These races are for C0, C1/C2, C3/C4 and C5/C7 pacers and will provide excellent opportunities for local and visiting trainers to share in the prize money spoils over the Carnival.

?

Once again this year, the welcome mat will be out for all our visitors with a social evening at the Victoria Hotel on Friday 18 March after the race meeting that day.

?

With the evening coinciding with the Interdominion Championship final, a big crowd of harness racing enthusiasts is expected to attend.

Keep an eye out for a very well bred two year old at Bathurst tonight.

?

Grenfell owned and trainer Holy Camp Road will be having his second race start having run second to one of his opposition tonight in Jaylets Thunder at Parkes recently.

?

Holy Camp Road is a son of Christian Cullen and is the first foal of former classy race mare Demi Joy.

?

Demi Joy was the winner of fourteen of her forty races and collected $54000 in stakes.

?

Demi Joy won a number of races at Bathurst and was also a multiple Harold Park winner including consecutive victories in eight days there in February 2000.

?

The mare is also a half sister to another smart race mare Paxton Joy.
